betsy betsy betsy

an amazing sale happening today over at gilt fuse; they're selling cute little numbers from betsy johnson for a steal. you have to fork over your email and stuff to get into the site, but totally worth it for the deals they have.
looks like christmas has come early for this little gal.

california dreaming

as an independent artist myself, i am all about supporting the indie community by buying handmade treasures to adorn myself, however, what girl does not appreciate a diamond encrusted bauble from an esteemed and world renowned jeweller such as say, van cleef and arpels?

to celebrate their 70th year in america, v&a are launching a 100 one-of-kind piece collection called "california rĂªverie". the pieces will be introduced in their first ever us store in los angeles.

i love seeing jewellery that will be sold for more than a house plus a car being made, something about seeing it in raw form is magical. it ends up being so shiny and sparkly but starts out so rough and deconstructed.

this white gold lovely (it's a palmier collier that can be worn as a brooch or necklace) will only set you back $1.5 million, mheh.

the ny times' blog, the moment, has an interesting article covering this spectacular milestone, and it's a neat look into the world of fine jewellery creation.

o. peoples

i really liked last years campaign by the peoples people with zooey, but I have to say this year's campaign photos are stunning. elijah wood, mheh, shirley manson, va va voom. love her and glad to see she's still relevant today.
I'm digging the art direction, too. it's really classy, and a little trashy.
I already am lusting over the navy blue talyas from last season, but now really want a pair of sunglasses that make look like mrs. manson.

these are for sure on my want list:

THE NORTH CIRCULAR KNITWEAR COMPANY

model lily cole is getting into the design game by partnering up with some friends in high-design places and launching an uber cozy sounding line of knitwear.
i am always cold, sometimes even in the summer, and so i appreciate a good knit sweater. they also make me want to move to the highlands and raise sheep, obviously.

"Available exclusively online at http://www.thenorthcircular.com/, the range incorporates a modern range of knitwear pieces that are luxurious yet affordable for fashion savvy individuals, whilst signaling a return to traditional values, and maintaining the rare Wensleydale breed."

Pamela Love for Opening Ceremony's Where the Wild Things Are Collaboration

ok, so a little behind the times with this post. to be honest, i was seriously trying to figure out if i should take OC seriously with their whole "where the wild things are" line of clothing. i mean, taking clothing design inspiration from movies is nothing new, but introducing a line of clothing based on fictional monsters, complete with fur and horns? i was really thinking they were having a laugh believing people would wear that stuff. anyways, i have fallen in love with the line of jewellery pamela love designed for the brand in honour of the movie. really cool looking and something i can take seriously. ;)
